Formaldehyde Testing
Formaldehyde (HCOH) is a colorless, flammable, strong-smelling chemical that is used in building materials and many household products. It is used in pressed-wood products, such as particleboard, plywood, and fiberboard; glues and adhesives; permanent-press fabrics; paper product coatings; and certain insulation materials including fiberglass.  In addition, HCOH is commonly used as an industrial disinfectant, and as a preservative in mortuaries and medical laboratories. Formaldehyde also occurs naturally in the environment. It is produced in small amounts by most living organisms.
Formaldehyde is one of the most common chemicals used in all kinds of products.  It has been around for decades in products used in the office,  home and school.  And it recently has been classified as a known carcinogen and the regulating agencies want to reduce exposures by setting very low recommended exposure limits. Most recently, wood flooring has become a product of concern because of the material off-gassing high levels of Formaldehyde.
Both the NIOSH Method 2016 and EPA Method TO-11 are accepted methods of analysis.  We offer both air testing and bulk sampling for Formaldehyde.  We also offer air sampling via detection meter, this allows us to provide instant real time results of any Formaldehyde off-gassing that may be occurring in your home.
