MOLD
The presence of Mold in a home can be a health hazard and dangerous, air sampling, tape sampling, and bulk sampling are common methods of Mold Testing.

Our Indoor Air Quality Mold Testing Services

When you hear the term Indoor Air Quality, it is commonly referring to mold spores in the air, but can include other particulates and pollen. Mold is often not visible and it's sources can be hidden behind walls, under flooring, or in carpeting. Mold requires water and / or moisture. The objective of our mold testing is not only to detect it's presence, but to find it's source.

WHAT  IS  A  SPORE TRAP  ?      WHAT  IS  AN  AIR-O-CELL ?

The Air-O-Cell Air Sampling cassette is a sampling device designed for the rapid collection and analysis of a wide range of airborne aerosols. These include fungal spores, pollen, insect parts, skin cell fragments, fibers, and inorganic particulates.  An Air-O-Cell is a brand of spore trap.

Air Testing using spore traps - This is a non-intrusive, non-destructive testing procedure that detects and identifies the types of mold spores present and their counts. Spore counts are essential data in the analysis of these air samples. Multiple indoor samples are compared with an outdoor (background) sample to compare crossover spores and identify spores only present in the indoor samples – indicating an indoor source. Comparing the indoor air samples spore types and their spore counts further allow the source to be determined.

Thermal Imaging – We offer this as a stand alone service to detect moisture from plumbing leaks or water intrusion, which become sources for mold. When used in conjunction with our mold air testing data, it allows us to pinpoint mold sources.

Moisture Meter Water Detection – We also offer this as a stand alone service to detect moisture from plumbing leaks or water intrusion that become sources for mold. We recommend using this service with Thermal Imaging to pinpoint and identify water and mold sources.

Other Types of Mold Tests

Surface Swab Sample – This is utilized when visible mold is present and will confirm and identify mold types detected. It is non-destructive.

ERMI and Mold Armor Home Test Kits – These are broad range mold tests. Results will identify mold spore types but provide limited information and are a very general mold assessments.

There are over 7200 known species of fungi and mold is considered one of the sub-groups. Fungi are probably the largest bio-mass while an underground fungus is the largest single organism on earth. Mold is an asexually reproducing fungi that unfortunately thrives in the temperatures and conditions within our homes. Since the 1970’s our homes have been constructed much tighter. Thus, we have less of an exchange of outside (healthier) air. This, combined with spending 70-90% of our lives indoors, mass agriculture, etc. has lead to a significant rise in mold related health issues.
Keep in mind that above 50% relative humidity is ideal for mold growth. Cooking, dishwashing, dryers, washers, and showers add moisture to your environment and should be properly vented outside. Mold cannot exist without a source of moisture and cellulose or soil to feed upon.
Mold classifications are allergenic, pathogenic and toxigenic. Some toxigenic (mycotoxins) molds are potent carcinogens that have caused cancers and a myriad of other serious health conditions. Unfortunately, no regulations or standards exist today and may be a long way off. Remediation procedures should be recommended by an Industrial Hygienist and health concerns should be discussed with your doctor.

We can also test your water for mold, fungus, and biofilm

MORE ABOUT INDOOR AIR QUALITY

How Safe is the Air Inside Your Home or Office?
Suffering from allergies, headaches, fatigue, or cold/flu like symptoms? It may actually be indoor air pollution.
Did you know inside air may be 25-100 times more polluted than outside air?
90% of indoor air quality issues are caused by high levels of VOCs and unhealthy levels of mold spores.
VOC's and other toxic fumes can be found in  paints, solvents, cleansers, carpets, disinfectants, air fresheners, pesticides, nicotine, glue, home furnishings and building materials.
Some VOC's are produced by molds and are known as  mVOC's
